What safety equipment comes standard on every vehicle?
Two spare wheels (one on the Fortuner), a car jack and tools, two warning triangles, a tyre compressor, a tow rope, a first aid kit, jumper cables and four rubber floor mats. This equipment is included at no extra cost on every rental.
What is my liability if the vehicle is damaged?
Advanced Car Hire is not a licensed insurer, so cover is structured as a damage waiver rather than insurance. A Tyre & Glass Waiver is included automatically at no extra cost: the first window or windscreen damage and up to two damaged tyres are covered free. Beyond that, standard liability is N$45,000 per incident unless Zero Excess cover is purchased, which reduces liability to zero for N$449 per day.
What should I do if I break down or have an accident?
Contact Advanced Car Hire's 24-hour phone line immediately: +264 81 287 6932. Stay with the vehicle where safe to do so, place warning triangles, and follow the guidance given over the phone.
Does driving carefully actually reduce my risk of a claim?
Yes. Damage waiver terms specifically distinguish normal wear from negligent or reckless driving. Using the vehicle as intended, driving within speed limits and treating it as your own are the conditions attached to a trouble-free, claim-free rental.
Are there roads or activities that fall outside cover?
Advanced Car Hire does not permit clients to drive on dunes. Damage caused by driving in a way the vehicle wasn't intended for, off marked routes, on unsuitable terrain for the vehicle type, falls outside the standard waiver.
Is Namibia safe for a first-time self-drive traveller?
Namibia is one of the more established self-drive destinations in Southern Africa, with clear route infrastructure and widely used gravel roads. First-timers benefit most from realistic daily distance planning, carrying the standard safety kit, and having a direct emergency contact.
